From dramatic stone book-matching to minimalist large-format tiles, here are the tile trends defining luxury bathrooms this year.
The luxury bathroom has evolved from a functional space into a personal sanctuary. In 2025, several powerful trends are shaping how premium tile brands and architects approach bathroom design.
1. Dramatic Book-Matched Stone Book-matching — where two adjacent slabs of marble are opened like a book to create a mirror image — continues to dominate luxury bathroom design. The symmetrical veining creates a stunning, artistic focal point.
2. Large Format Tiles: 1200x1200 and Beyond The trend toward minimalism drives demand for larger and larger tiles. Fewer grout lines mean a cleaner, more expansive look. We're seeing 1600x3200mm slabs being used as single-piece shower enclosures.
3. Zellige and Artisan Tiles The counterpoint to the minimalist trend is the artisan tile movement. Hand-made Moroccan zellige tiles with their beautiful imperfections are appearing in luxury spas and boutique hotels.
4. Dark and Dramatic Palettes Black marble, deep teal, and charcoal are replacing the all-white bathroom. Nero Marquina and Absolute Black Granite are particularly popular for creating dramatic, spa-like atmospheres.
